Once in a while, it’s important to take a step back and do something for you. Get off of Instagram, stop obsessing over work emails, and turn off the TV. Here are some of my favorite ways to unplug and recharge.

1) Read a book.

Honestly, I love reading. I read sappy Nicholas Sparks novels, biographies of famous historical figures, and everything in between. I wish I read more, because it makes me feel so refreshed to escape into a book for an hour or two and leave the real world behind. 2) Exercise

Exercising is one of the best ways to recharge after a stressful day at the office. Nothing puts me in a better mood than heading to the gym and blasting my workout playlist on Spotify. Check it out here!

3) Pamper yourself with a face mask

Face masks are just as fun to put on as they are good for you skin. An affordable brand I recommend is YesTo and they sell a variety of face masks at Target. Their charcoal mud mask and their grapefruit paper mask are my two favorites!

4) Call a friend

Sometimes the best way to clear your mind is to catch up with an old friend. I know that anytime something is bothering me, I can call one of my sorority sisters or friends from college to get my mind off of things. Hearing about what’s new and happy in their life is the sweetest distraction.

5) Cook something yummy

This one has a little disclaimer, because I’m not much of a cook. Matt on the other hand cooks every night, and even just sitting in the kitchen watching him puts me in a good mood. If making something in the kitchen, it’s usually some kind of sugar-filled dessert. So if I use this idea too much, I’ll have to go back to number 2 on the list.

6) Journal

One thing I love to do to refocus is writing in my journal & planning out my goals. Journaling helps me get my creative juices flowing and unwinds me after a stressful day. I recently posted an article about goal planning as well, check it out here!

7) Get outside

Any time I’m feeling overwhelmed with projects, I like to take my dog to the dog park or for a quick walk around the neighborhood. It’s amazing what a little bit of fresh air can do. Plus Oliver (my mini goldendoodle) loves it too!

8) Take a bubble bath

If all else fails, light a scented candle, pour a glass of wine, and treat yourself to a bubble bath.
